Best Auto Mechanic in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania

The borough of Birdsboro, PA, covers 1.3 square miles of land in southern Berks County, eight miles southeast of Reading along the Schuylkill River, on the northern edge of Hopewell Big Woods. Long known for its metal and machine shops, Birdsboro today is home to roughly 5,100 people.

Birdsboro got its name from ironmaker William Bird, who established himself in the area around 1740. The borough was created in 1872 from sections of Union and Robeson townships. Around this time, descendants of the Bird family created the Birdsboro Iron Foundry Company, which became Birdsboro Steel Company and lasted until its closure in 1988. Housing developments such as Mansion Heights were built on hills overlooking Birdsboro in the 1980s and ‘90s, greatly increasing the borough’s population.
